Cucumis sativus 'National Pickling' fruit

It has been our experience that Cucumis sativus 'National Pickling' performs well in our area in a warm season planting. Early plantings that were direct sowed in early to mid April produced the most fruit that we observed. Fruits develop and ripen quickly, in about three to five days. Fruit should be picked when they are about four to seven inches long, and the color is green with light white stripes going through it, with a bumpy texture. If fruit is yellow, it is still edible, but past its peak.
